Northern Performances Features Area Musicians!
Local Producer/Host Dave Poinsett jams with Photographers

Continuing this month area musicians in Northwest Michigan will be in the spotlight of a new public access television series called “Northern Performances”.  Produced by local producer/musician Dave Poinsett  with production support from Up North 2, the show highlights local musical artists and offers them an opportunity to discuss their craft, inspiration and musicality . Recent guests from around northwest Michigan have included Seth Bernard of Earth Work Music Collective -http://www.earthworkmusic.com/ and The program is recorded live and combines musical performance with talk-show format discussion on their craft, influences and upcoming performance dates.  Look for future “Northern Performance’s” in the Up North 2 program schedule.

Rick Beemon frequently travels from Charlevoix to edit

Local producer Rick Beemon has been spending his free time at one of the Up North 2 edit workstations completing programming he recorded at the recent “Flow: For the Love of the Great Lakes – A Film, Reception and Fundraiser to Protect the Public Trust” Great Lakes water resources event held in Traverse City.  “This is an eye opening issue.” said Beemon. “This issue effects everyone who lives within the Great Lakes watershed.”  Beemon’s local program will feature panel discussion and presentations by filmmaker Irena Salina http://www.flowthefilm.com/, Michigan Citizens for Water Conservation’s –(MCWC) President Terry Swier, environmental attorney Jim Olson and author Dave Dempsey (Great Lakes for Sale).  Rick Beemon has produced several local programs (with the support of wife JoAnn and other family members) since completing both the Field Producer and Studio Producer certification classes in the fall of 2008.  Among Rick’s recent productions were presentations supported by Friends of the Jordan (FOJ) - http://www.friendsofthejordan.org/  relating to the Alba Injection Well controversy and the Bay Harbor clean-up.Look for past, present and future local content produced by Rick in the Up North 2 program schedule.
