Management & StaffThe Northwest Michigan Community Media Center (CMC) is owned and operated by the Land Information Access Association (LIAA), a Section 501(c)3 nonprofit community service organization located at 324 Munson Avenue in Traverse City. LIAA has extensive experience in working with citizens, local governments and other nonprofits all across Michigan helping to expand civic engagement and build better communities through participation, education, information and the effective use of technology.
LIAA's Board of Directors oversees all of LIAA's programs, operations and finances. The Board of Directors is responsible for evaluating and adopting all policies of the organization which are carried out by the Executive Director and LIAA's staff members. The CMC Citizen's Advisory Board is responsible for developing and updating the public access television policies under which Up North 2 is operated. The Citizen's Advisory Board meets on a regular basis to consider improvements to its policies, establish and review progress toward development goals, and evaluate overall operations of Up North 2. The Citizen's Advisory Board is also responsible for seeking citizen input for improving overall operations and correcting specific errors or short-comings in the program. LIAA's Executive Director is responsible for all day-to-day operations of the organization and all of its programs. The Executive Director oversees all staff activities, develops policies and program budgets, and carries out the policies adopted by LIAA's Board of Directors. Additionally, the Executive Director works with CMC's Citizen's Advisory Board to support the development of successful policies and procedures for public access television. The Executive Director and Citizen's Advisory Board work together to resolve any issues or concerns raised concerning the operations of the CMC and Up North 2.
The CMC Station Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations of the CMC's public access television station and all supporting program activities. The Station Manager works to provide a broad range of video support services and training to the citizens, local governments and nonprofit organizations of northwest Lower Michigan. Program schedules and the day-to-day programming of Up North 2 are the responsibility of the Station Manager.
