Home>Government99 Government Access Television - TV 99As provided for under contracts with the Traverse City area municipal governments, LIAA's Community Media Center will take over the management of Government Access Television (TV 99) by the end of the year. In preparation for this change, we are installing new cablecasting equipment and coordinating efforts with the City of Traverse City - the current managers of TV 99.
In September, each of the participating municipalities formally appointed representatives to the Government Access Oversight Committee for Channel 99. The members of this advisory committee as appointed in September are:
Susanne M. Courtade, Township Clerk East Bay Charter Township Derith Smith, Township Supervisor Elmwood Charter Township Kay Schumacher, Township Clerk Garfield Charter Township Makayla Vitous, Assistant City Manager City of Traverse City
After some discussion and document development, the Government Access Oversight Committee for Channel 99 adopted a set of policies to guide the operation of TV 99 on September 24, 2008. This short document is called Policies for the Operation of Government Access Cable Television Channel 99. Among other things, these policies establish a hierarchy for the scheduling of cablecasts, giving the legislative bodies of participating municipalities the highest preference. These policies also encourage other local governments to cablecast video presentations of their public meetings on TV 99 and explain how they can gain access.
If you and your local unit of government would like to begin videotaping and cablecasting important government meetings on TV 99, please contact:
