Contributing Municipalities

The Northwest Michigan Community Media Center (CMC) receives a portion of its funding from local units of government that contribute a small percentage of the franchise fees (30%) collected from cable subscribers. These funds are provided to LIAA under contract arrangements that assure that the CMC will provide citizens a locally operated, public access television station (Up North 2) in cooperation with Charter Communications. Additionally, the CMC is expected to provide direct video production services to the contributing municipalities.

As of July 15, 2008, the contributing municipalities were:

• City of Traverse City
• East Bay Charter Township
• Elmwood Charter Township
• Garfield Charter Township
